Physical Security – Case Study

Urban Commercial Building Security Assessment and Upgrade

The Challenge

A commercial office tower in a major U.S. city needed to improve its physical security amid growing concerns over unauthorized access, theft, and workplace safety. Existing measures—aging turnstiles, outdated access control, and limited perimeter protections—were no longer sufficient. Centremis was tasked to assess vulnerabilities and implement modern upgrades without disrupting daily operations or the building’s professional image.

Our Solution

Centremis deployed senior Physical Security SMEs to conduct a targeted risk and vulnerability assessment of exterior approaches, parking, lobbies, elevators, and key interior areas. The team designed a layered protection strategy with upgraded credential and visitor management, secure turnstiles and dock controls, discreet perimeter barriers, and reinforced entry points, using Secure Business Council (SBC) standards to inform and benchmark the design.

The Result

The building now operates with a more integrated security posture that balances convenience and control. Updated access and perimeter measures improve safety and deterrence while maintaining the property’s appearance. By applying industry best practices and standards with SBC-informed design principles, the owner reduced intrusion risks and increased tenant confidence through clearer access controls, better protected entry points, and more predictable response procedures—resulting in a visibly stronger, more resilient security posture throughout the building.
