Dennis G. Smythe, P.E. is the President and CEO of Centremis, overseeing all corporate operations to support the development of physical and electronic security solutions for government and commercial clients that protect people, critical assets, and mission-essential operations. Drawing on more than four decades of experience in infrastructure and security engineering, anti-terrorism, disaster recovery, critical infrastructure protection, mission assurance, and facilities management, he ensures the right resources are provided for the full lifecycle of security solutions, from assessment and design through implementation, operations, and maintenance.
A retired U.S. Navy Civil Engineer Corps Officer, Dennis has an extensive background in program and project management, risk management, government contracting, and business operations. During his Navy career, he served in roles of increasing responsibility, including Deputy Team Chief and Infrastructure Engineer at the Defense Threat Reduction Agency, where he led diverse teams conducting anti-terrorism vulnerability assessments at Department of Defense installations worldwide, often in high-tempo, high-stress environments focused on defense-in-depth strategies.
He also served as Shop’s Engineer and Environmental Programs Director at the U.S. Naval Academy, supervising a workforce of more than 400 personnel responsible for facility lifecycle maintenance, utilities operations, transportation, grounds, and environmental programs. In addition, he served as Director of Contracts at the Naval Postgraduate School, overseeing 150 construction and service contracts with a strong record of on-time, under-budget performance.
Dennis holds a Master of Science in Financial Management from the Naval Postgraduate School and a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from the University of Kansas. He is a licensed Professional Engineer, a trained security engineer and critical infrastructure protection specialist, and a former Government Contracting Officer.
30+ years in FBI Supervisory Law Enforcement, Business and Security Consulting, and Global executive protection operations to include white collar investigations, counterterrorism JTTF operations, law enforcement liaison, technology management, global executive protection for the Attorney General and FBI Director, and Principal Managing Consultant in Business and Technology for Arthur Andersen LLC.
After leaving the FBI, Jeff became Director of Security for NMR Consulting, overseeing comprehensive upgrades to physical and electronic security and establishing a Global Security Operations Center (GSOC) for high-profile government agencies. As the Vice President of Security and Operations, Jeff leads the government and commercial divisions for Centremis, specializing in integrated, layered security solutions tailored to each client’s unique mission, risk profile, and operational needs.

Stephen J. Gordon is Vice President of Business Development at Centremis. With 25+ years in law enforcement, executive protection, and security consulting, he builds strategic partnerships and delivers tailored security solutions.
During his FBI career, Stephen served as Supervisory Special Agent leading violent crime investigations, internal affairs, and director-level executive protection across domestic and international assignments.
Post-FBI, Stephen served as Deputy Program Manager at NMR Consulting for the U.S. Capitol Complex, implementing post-January 6th security upgrades and establishing a GSOC for Congressional safety.
